Default File Sharing Trouble

Hi,

File sharing has gone to pieces on my XP 'box. Let me explain.

It doesn't see either of the other 2 machines (1 vista, 1 XP Pro), however the others can access each other no problem.

The settings for the wireless on the one that doesn't work report that TCP/IP is not installed, however trying to install gives a message:

"Cannot install requested feature. The data is invalid"

I've tried rebuilding the TCP/IP stack.

TIA

Michael

Your mouse has moved. Windows NT must be restarted for the change to take effect. Reboot now? [ OK ]

Don't make me use uppercase...

Sorry I didn't get back to you. I've not really had time to do anything with having Work Experience.

Anyway, I had a bit of a fiddle, and i seem to have fixed them problem. I've no idea what I did to solve it, nor what caused it in the first place. Still, it's only the end result I'm bothered about.

I'm having a hard time sharing files on my 2 computers on my home network. If I have a workgroup name assigned to my desktop, how to assign the same to my laptop? Also, when the laptop asks for the user name and password of the computer name (the desktop) I don't remember what it is. How can I reset it on the desktop? I'm sure I'll have more questions but want to get this taken care of so I can move forward to actually share files.
Thank you
