Default file compressers???

are there any really good file compressers
like i found this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KGB_Archiver
and it can compress 1 gb to 10 mb which is extreamly good but its extreamly slow are there any better ones?

everything that compresses a file to a small % of the original size is going to be slow. That being said I don't know if there are any faster ones available, but just looking around on google and that kgb one does seem to be one of the best ones.

I would use WINRAR or 7 ZIP both good file compressors but I have no idea what the maximum file size for compression is as Ive ever compressed one as big as a full GB before.

kgb is good but i have read bad things about it, i'm a fan of 7zip
