The fastest laptop is....a Dell?!
It turns out that Dell's latest notebook, the XPS Inspiron Gen 2 is the fastest laptop out in the market today, beating out Falcon Northwest and Alienware. cNet, Computer Gaming World etc have all reviewed it and testified that the XPS is TRUELY the fastest laptop in the market. If the website doesn't prove it to you, I saw it with my own eyes at Barnes & Noble, reading CGW.

Re: The fastest laptop is....a Dell?!
My friend has the standard laptop like that(inspiron or whatever) with the 6800 in it and a Centrino. I must say the screen on that thing is AWSOME and it performs quite well. I'll have to ask him how it's doing in a while

Never underestimate the power of an Intel Pentium M. Pentium 4's are heat-leakers & power-wasters. They will continue to be even through the Pentium D series. The Pentium M is a very good processor. It uses very low power and has extremely good performance while staying cool.
$2,000 for a notebook isn't that much. Alienware and Falcon Northwest notebooks cost even more.

Well the XPS is the Uber Top series that Dell has to offer, so I think they would put extra care into building them. Becides, Dell's quality isn't THAT bad...I only hate the Customer Service. Their desktops are good for entry-level users, and their Latitude notebooks are very good ultrathin laptops, while the Inspiron is a good all-around notebook for all purposes. People should really give Dell a chance before giving second-hand opinions...

You could get the HP Livestrong Edition notebook. It uses an AMD Athlon Turion processor. It's AMD's version of the Pentium M. The Turion is a potentially good mobile processor, but the Pentium M obviously has had the time-proven advantage.
A Mobile FX-55 would literally eat up a notebook's batteries in an hour or two...it's just not practical.

Re: The fastest laptop is....a Dell?!
Yeah, but current battery technology isn't really that good yet. If it was better, notebooks would be so much more popular. Yeah, the Pentium M, in my opinion, is Intel's best processor too. I know what you mean, I was just awnsering it with some realistic awnsers that's all. I like how you still question things, even when it's perfectly fine for the time being though...such a quality would serve you well when finding a job.

Re: The fastest laptop is....a Dell?!
Hey guys i just got a message from M$ talking about HOW laptops are going to dominate the computer world this whole next year. I do believe that this is just the start of it so hang on to your hats as I think that you will be looking at 64 bit laptop here really quick(my own personal opinion)
I say that because I can't see any other reason as to why M$ would be so interested unless they are pushing something for them selves.

What's with Microsoft being represented by this weird M$? They're not bad...they may be rich, but they aren't corrupt and trying to topple governments or anything...

Weird M$???
Sorry but I don't think that it is weird or really degrading either. I have been using that abreveation for microsoft for over 5 years and this forum is the only one that I have seen that says anything about it. I admit that I don't know where it came from or why it was developed but when I first saw it it was surely NOT used as a derogatory term. Just as an abeveated term as I meant it to be taken here.

M$...
It's short hand to start with and yes Microsoft is bad. Otherwise they would not have been sued all over the world for trying to maintain a monoply. Ma Bell did that and look what happened to her.

Re: The fastest laptop is....a Dell?!
I've only heard good things about Dell. My experience with them has only been good, as well. I mean, for people on a budget, it's a very good brand. Of course, if you're not, spend the extra bucks and get something a bit better, but I've never had any problems with Dell.

I just looked at it, and yes you could put a down payment on a new/used car. Anyone find that strange? Plus that computer is outrageously priced. I can build a desktop computer about as good as that for about.... $600.

In case you're wondering, this notebook's model name is HP L2000. It comes out on June 22nd.
