Failing/Failed GPU.

About time I guess...

Well it looks like GPU folding nearly 24/7 has taken it's toll on my graphics card.

Folding on it now creates artefacts on both monitors. Temps during folding hit 76'C.

I ran FurMark and it can't run that anymore without filling the screen with pixel snow. Full screen or windowed, it's the same mess.

And now with the graphics card idling opening/switching windows is creating artefacts too. EDIT: All the time now.

PKR is the only game I play and that is un-playable now.

Cant get a HD 4870 from Scan but I see a few on eBay and I'm looking at the HD5770 at Scan.

Do I go for a new HD5770 or a second hand HD4870?

Get the V2 cooler. (egg shaped one) it cools better than the v1 (pretty one) and makes very little difference in case temps. (<1 degree usually)

I thought the V1 would be better cause it vents hot air out the case?

The GPU itself is 6-10 degrees C hotter.

V2 is better overall. Just add another case fan if its an issue.
