I but black ops on a 20 gb linux hard drive (while running linux on my desktop). I don't have any usbs, so I took the hdd out and plugged it into my laptop. I have a dock so this generally works. I realize that linux has a different file system (ext2/3), But can I access the external hdd while in windows (8)? Any suggestions are appreciated

Windows can't read ext file systems.
Maybe you can use a program that can read it and transfer it to windows.
other then that you will have to boot up a live linux OS and transfer the files to a desk or usb with NTFS of FAT file systems.
You could also upload it to Google Drive if it doesn't take more spece then 15 gb

btw. google drive does not allow files over 2 gb each.

i found this aplicaton:
Ext2Read | Free System Administration software downloads at SourceForge.net

I have never used it, but try it
