I recently purchased an external hard drive and found out it doesn't work on my computer (which is quite old). It keeps opening the installation wizard but when i click install it doesn't have sufficient data and requires a CD which i don't have. Is there anyway i can download what i need online if not then my hard drive is worthless :(

If I'm not mistaken, it should just recognize it as a storage device. You shouldn't have to install anything. If you do, then the EHDD should just prompt a little screen to install from there. At least, from my experiences, that's how EHDDs work.

any help appreciated

this is a new external hard drive, my older one worked but broke down due to overuse and now this one isn't registering on my computer at all. I tried the installation and it didn't work

The best thing I can tell you is to go to the manufacturer's website (of the EHDD) and look for driver downloads. If they don't have any it's because it should automatically recognize it.
