External DvD Rom Drive

Hello I do not know what part of the forum this would be under sorry for that. I have a question, I took apart my old Dell Latitude C640 and was wondering if it is possible to take the internal DvD Rom drive and turn it into a USB external Drive? Personally I think it would be impossible and if it is possible probably a pain to do, but I thought I would give a shot asking you guys. Tried searching google, but my searches turned up blank.

I also have a couple of old CD / DvD Roms that went to my Desktop PC and was wondering where you can buy Enclosures to convert those to external drives too?

Nope it's not hard at all...just buy one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817113012
You can put any cd/dvd drive in it and it even says you can put a hard drive in it to make an external hard drive.
