Default External DVD Burner for Laptops

i see they have External DVDRW drives specifically designed for laptops, but would a regular external DVDRW drive be compatable with a laptop? Are the external laptop drives just smaller and sleeker, or is there a bigger difference?

Default Re: External DVD Burner for Laptops

as long as your OS will support it and you have the required connection(usb, firewire, etc.) regular externals should work fine. most likely the companies are trying to add a new markup but describing it as "specifically for laptops."
So it Goes.
