Default external 300 gig maxtor

i just bought one.... and i use it to hold about 200 gigs of movies, music , programs, and pictures....

i dont know much bout these things
is it alright to leave running all the time whenever my puter is on
or do they have a short lifespan or anything?
i just been leavin it on all day with the puter so far

It should be fine running for a good few years non stop...Just remember to backup things that are important and you shouldn't have a problem..

An external hard drive has a regular old 3.5 inch hard drive inside of it like you would find inside any computer. So yeah, it should be fine hooked up all the time.
