I don't understand. Why does DirectX says that I have 30MB on my video card and the display settings only says 8MB?

This card is:

Matrox MGA Millenium G200 It shows on the image.

I was thinking it might be because I have a memory expansion set, but, it is empty. I can't find what it takes (not EDO DIMM)

This card is from a comp gave to me. The specs are:

Intel SE440BX-2
Intel PII 350MHZ
96MB RAM (it was 128 before, butmy RAM sticks were failing...and it made the PC crash on and on and on)
6GB HDD
52X CD drive
Intel i440 chipset

It'll be sharing system memory most likely, so it is using 30mb, but it has 8mb onboard, actually on the card itself.

It's AGP. There is no way I could share 30MB. I did not configure it and the RAM isn't missing a meg

Hmm very interesting indeed...

I wouldn't complain though if I were you, but that is weird. I'm sure someone can explain it.

Go read the thread you started at my house. I posted the specs on that card. I have a lot of Matrox cards. Good solid product.
But I would replace it with an eVGA.com mx400. It's backward compatible down to 1x. The mx400 is 64 megs for around 50 or less US dollars.
