even newer to the game gigabyte gtx680

i cannot get my gtx680 to be recognised by the driver installer or the nvidia serch your hardwear device al i get is this mesage (NVIDIA Instaler carnt continue this graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardwear) i have tryed a fuly OS system re-install and i have tryed instaling VLC media player as i typed the fault mesage in and someone had the same and it was a codec problem but no luck for me,please help me you guru's out there.
MY SYSTEM IS:-
i7 2600k on a a ASROCK FATAL1TY Z68 GEN3 mobo with pcie 3.0 sli and a spear pcie 2.0(i have tryed the gpu in these slots to and a old gt220 and a amd card), With 4 gb of ram and a seagate baracuda 3 tb hd and a vertex 3 120gb ssd and a OCZ FATAL1TY 750w psu and a ANTEC 620 kuhler and the brand new GIGABYTE GTX680 gpu.
Any help wil be much apreciated from you guru's out there,thanks
 
you REALLY need to start using period.

make sure everything is plugged in properly.
make sure you are using the latest driver from Nvidias homepage.
you have a Z68 platform, so it is able you use the internal GPU in the CPU.
so make sure you are not using the inbuilt VGA port on the motherboard.

if still a problem:
you could try to right click on the desktop and select something like "switch GPU", select the 680 and try the installation again.
make sure you have not disabled something in the BIOS that should not have been disabled.

still problem:
can GPU-Z see the 680?
