Default Ethernet Question

My computer has just one ethernet outlet in the tower. I would like to run an ethernet cable from the tower to my router, but the security cameras ethernet cable needs that outlet also. Is there an accessory that plugs into that one outlet yet has a box where two ethernet plugs can go into so both can be used? If so, is there one that you would recommend? Thank you

You are needing a switch. You can get a small one dirt cheap nowadays. This one is $13 on Newegg, or you can pick one up at BestBuy or Walmart.

The switch option is probably the easiest, and safest, but if you're comfortable rummaging around inside your computer, adding a pcie network card would be the better option, imho. going with the switch means you're splitting the capacity of the one port between the two cables. here's one for $15: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Gigab.../dp/B003CFATNI

and another for $12: https://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-1000...SS5Q7NATDQ4RHR
