emailing a rar file

I need to email a rar (compressed) file but it doesn't show up in Outlook when I go to the folder that it is in. The uncompressed file shows up fine.
What can I do to let Outlook see it?

if you use WinRAR you can right click on a file and select "Compress and email..."
