DVD wont burn...

You computer can not burn anything. It can only read.

It can burn. DVD-RAM drives are dvd burners.

It can do both.

Did you try burning any CDs since this all happened or no?

Ok, it wont let me burn CDs or DVDs...should i reinstall?

If it won't burn either then odds are your drive is just shot. There really is not "installing" of a optical drive. Windows just sees it and goes.

i cant get a DVD to play now...is it becuase of this?

If you got the basic package with that it burns cd but only reads dvd.
You paid over $1400.00 dollars for that thing and you're having problems with it already? Send that pos back to dell and let them either fix or replace it.
