dvd skips help

My dvd burner skips wen it plays DVDs only.
I put an old DVD iDE burner in and it plaed ok then I put this one back in and it played ok but after a fue days it skips again.

But if I put a diferant one in and then take that out and put this one back it works.

My DMA is set to UDMA and this drive does not support POi or is it PIO
I un installed the drivers and up dated the drivers no good.

Do you shut down your computer? The reason I ask is it sounds like it could be malfunctioning as it heats up over time. Idk but just guessing.

no I keep it on
