Default DVD RW probs

i just bought a dvd burner off ebay... its a black lg, and its a DVD-RW... i bought some DVD-R discs.. when i put one in, and go to properties, it says 0 free space 0 availible space... and i cannot burn anything.. any ideas? bad burner?

There are two types of dvd rws, DVD + and DVD -, Your burner is probably set to the opposite type. Just buy a different type of DVDrw

well on the blank dvd's they say DVD+R, and on the rw it says DVD+Rewritable.. i assume those are the same thing?

yes it should be compatible. is the DVD burner fully installed, also waht burnering program are you using?

i was using the nero one.. any suggestions on another one? it should be fully installed.. i went to lg and updated the driver

Your DVDs are compatible. Pretty much if you have a DVD rewrite drive, you can use any type of DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW.

When you go into Nero, do you have the recorder set to DVD? Here's a pict to compare:
