Default DVD-ROM Trouble

Ive got a problem with my DVD-ROM drive, its a Compaq GD-8000, and it plays DVD movies and CDs great, but I cant play DVD-PC games through it. Right now Im using my slave, its a DVD-RW DL. The problem is the slave has a slow start up speed and Im growing impatient with it. Ive tried finding drivers and uninstalling it and all that good stuff. My though is that maybe the play speed aint right for games.

Anyone got any ideas?
