DvD player dosn't work, HELP!

Alright my Hitatchi DvD player for my computer will not work it juss seems to keep reading the disk. It is an old DvD player but it can still read Cd-r Cd-rw and normal cds but not DvDs it is set as the slave drive should it be the master?? Help me please.

Um...

If it's an older model xp might not have the drivers for it in house. Check the makers site for drivers. Also if watching movies on it you have to have player software. Some dvd movies come with a player program on them.

If it is an older unit it may be a dvd- and unable to read dvd+ format.

You can try this but it may not work.
If you are comfortable editing the registry:
Create a Restore point and back up the registry.Open regedit.
Look for;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\CurrentControlSet\SetControlClass.
Key name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Value Data:[Delete all value data from upper and lower filters]
Note-Do not delete the key or the multi-string values. Delete only the data values.
Exit regedit and reboot.
