Hey guys,

ever since i reinstalled windows my dvd drives don't show up in my computer. They are using ide. Could it be bios settings or is it windows? i have an ep45 ud3r if that helps.

thanks

yeah, but thing is that they don't show up in device manager.... but they do in bios. Well it turns out im getting a few more unrelated errors so i'm just going to reinstall vista.

drivers for motherboards in relation to CD/DVD/BDROMs is so old school, even Windows 98 laughs. If a drive isn't showing up in Windows XP, Vista or 7, it's a system issue on the hardware level (bad drive) or the OS is hosed, as the OP found out.

Installing drivers for CDROM/DVD/BDR drives has been rendered null and void for at least 10 years.

Well if it's a SATA Drive and the standard vista SATA Driver doesnt want to play nice (With Vista, This is entirely possible), that could cause it not to come up.
