Default DVD drive in old computer! WTH is going on!

Ok my friend gave me this DVD drive (only reads DVD) that was off his sony VAIO. I just wanted to see if it would work. I have a IBM Aptiva 2193. I installed it under the CD drive, i plugged in the second data ribbon thing and the other power 4 prong plug. I booted up my computer and i get the IBM screen saying:

Primary Master: TWEAC......(forget)
something slave: none
Secondary Master: CD....(i forget)
somthing slave: none

I then go to my computer and its only the TWEAC Cd drive thats there, not the DVD drive.the jumpers are a MASTER on both drives. Should I change the DVd to Slave or the other one?

Change one to slave. It should fix the problem.

Yea, you need to change to jumper on the DVD player to slave.

yup that did the trick. I just wanted to see if my computer would reconize a DVd drive. My friend gave it to me because it doesint work anymore. It wont read a CD or DVD. I put a disk in a makes a little noise and it like ignores the disk i guess.

Any help with that?
