Default DVD Drive Crash

For some reason, each time I insert a disc into my PC's DVD-ROM drive the whole system crashes. Anybody got any ideas why this is happening? Could it be a driver problem? Thanks

Does this only happen with that one disk, or all disks?

I would try updating the driver for the drive just as a standard precaution.

Try updating the firmware for the drive as well. Go to the manufacturers website and see if they have a newer version of the firmware for your drive.
