Default DVD burning problem

I have some .avi files I want to burn to a dvd but Im having some trouble and I cant figure out whats wrong. I have tried using Nero, Copy2DVD Burn4Free but I get the same error message. I always get a message saying that this media type isnt supported by this drive. What?!?! Im using a dvd burner and some dvd+r's. I have used these dvd's with this drive before and never had problems. Any ideas about whats causing it to do this?

Im trying to burn it as a data dvd. It will only burn it as a dvd movie if its in the dvd format.
