emmm I've always converted the movie first using Cucusoft avi to dvd converter. Then burned it using nero. Im not sure if you can burn it direct.

are you wanting to convert the .avi files to dvd? or are you just wanting to burn the .avi files to a dvd in .avi format? if you are wanting to do the latter, just choose dvd iso from the dvd menu and burn a data dvd.
if you are wanting to convert them to dvd format, I use WinAVI video converter, it works well and I like it.
