Can a DVD burner read normal cds?

edit: But a Normal CD-ROm cannot play DVD's etc

Ya, cause it can, the reason it can is because the DvD drive is 2 formats, one for Blank Or Written Cds, Or DvD disks, although you cant Record or Write DvD disks.

Yes they can, and they can write to them i think, but as g.g said that a cd drive cant read dvd's so what you would like to do will work

A DVD Writer can read and write CDs no problems.

DVD burner is the mother of all optical drives. It will read and write any CD, DVD media.
