Default DVD burner + DVD drive problems

hey guys sorry i havent been around for awhile, been busy with work. Just wanted to know if anyone could help me out. I put a dvd drive as my slave and my dvd burner as my master, and it wont pick up my slave. It opens and when i put a disc in, it acts like it wants to read it, but under my computer my DVD burner is my only option on my drives. Any help would be appreciated thank you!

try unplugging it and plugging it back in and have your system recognize it again. Are you sure that the jumpers are set correctly for master and slave? Is the master drive on the connector on the end of the ribbon and the slave on the second connector?

Yeah, put the master dvd drive on the top and the slave drive on the bottom so that you can plug the ribbon cable in correctly.
