Default Dual / Remote Monitors

Hello, I have a question and hopeing someone can help point me in right direction.

I have one computer its connected to a switch. One monitor/keyboard/mouse is next to the computer. The other Monitor/Keyboard/mouse is about 500 ft away.

Is there any way to make it so when I am on the Monitor farther away from computer, it would turn off the monitor next to the computer (saveing engery)

maybe run a script or a peice of hardware that could control this?

I only want to beable to turn off the monitor next to computer, not worried about the remote one. Also switching the monitor next to computer into powersave mode is ok too.

Any idea's are welcome
Thanks

An extension cord with a power surge could work, if you want to do it as cheap as possible.
