Default Dual DVI

I have a friend that showed me a picture of his setup and I noticed he had two DVI cables coming out of the back of his monitor (the VGA converted to DVI) and into the graphics card, I didn't ask him why, but the monitor was off so I don't know if it worked or not. Is there a purpose to have 2 DVI cables plugged in or to have DVI/VGA plugged in at the same time?

lol, you only need to use one of them, preferably DVI if possible but there is no point having two at all

Tell your friend he's a dumbass. You don't need two cables run from your monitor. Thats why it has a DVI and VGA input. If you want DVI you put it into the DVI in and the same for VGA. That has got to be the dumbest thing i've heard of.
