Smile Dual Core Running Slowly

Hi ive got a dual core system core 2 duo 1.8ghz oc to 2.67Ghz with Arctic Cooling freezer 7 pro with 1gb DDR400 Ram and a ATA100 250Gb Hard Drive.

It Runs Quite Slow for a dual core Even With A Fresh Istall Of Xp. My Dual Core Laptop Runs Better.

Is It Because Of The ATA 100 HDD or The DDR400 Ram

Alex

Have you installed the video drivers? Without the correct video drivers, windows XP will feel extremely laggy.

Explain "not quite that fast" and provide some benchmarks.

well basically when i turn it on i have to wait about 1min after desktop is loaded before i can use it and all that is set to startup is avg zonealarm and msn and seems a bit sluggish at times when loading stuff. Im assuming its the IDE ata100 hard drive. would a sata upgrade make much difference

you could try a sata 7200 speed hard drive,,,and maybe bump up the ram to 2gb. those two upgrades should do you well.

How much RAM do you have right now?
How many RPMs does the hard drive operate at?

You might be expecting a bit to much out of a laptop..

Once again, ensure you have all your drivers installed by checking in Device Manager.
