I plan on using my CPU for:

1. Listening to music via MMJB
2. Talking to people via AIM
3. Browsing Websites via Mozilla
4. Burning CDs & DVDs
5. Playing games (AoE II & III, Diablo 2, WoW, Battlefield 2 [maybe])

burning DVDs will take up 100% cpu usage no matter what kind of CPU you are using But with a dual core you can burn a DVD while playing games.

Dual Core makes that big of a difference? How do you know? Just theorizing, or have you experienced this?
