For some reason my CD/DVD drive wont read disks anymore and i went to properties and it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" idk y it just started doing it recently. Heres the driver i have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827151136
I already went on samsung website to look for updates but they don't seem to work i am just installing them wrong. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.

Its your upper / lower filters causing the problem, heres a fix from microsoft. Oh, and dont worry about the easy cd creator thing if you never had it, these filters can be damaged in other ways, but its the same way to repair them :)

I tried to delete the file in the Registry Editor and it said "Cannot delete the file : Error while deleting key".

do it in safemode then, and dont forget to backup the registry before ya change it

I was going to suggest removing the DVD-RW drive from device manager and then rebooting and letting XP detect and reinstall it.

my wife had the same problem with her toshiba laptop last week ,do a system restore back to when it was working it cured my wifes problem .P.S. this only started when my wife did a windows update last week so i desabled the updates and set them to manual so not to repeat the same again, hope this helps.

I went in and deleted the lowerfilter file and now it runs fine thanks Raffaz
