so let me get this strait. you want to plug in a HDMI in you DELL and then convert the end to a DVI and plug that into the TV? YES. it will work if your TV has a DVI input. i have never seen a TV with a DVI input before though.

I would have thought you're more likely to have VGA on both, or it would be easier to get a DVI-2-VGA converter (and cheaper). Every HD TV i've ever owned has had a VGA on it.

Yeah I would think that you have VGA on your TV and I have never seen a DVI input on a TV before. I would use the VGA or HDMI connection would be much easier.

I guess I was thinking of it the other way around. DVI out of the computer to HDMI in the TV.

Agreed:

Yeah, I was thinking of this too.

I Google'd the Dell Optiplex GX270, and unless you added a video card on it, there doesn't seem to have a DVI or HDMI port. It only has VGA. However, like the others said, you can do a VGA to VGA.

What is the exact model of the TV? There's a tag on the back with that info.
