do I need a new front audio port?

A short while ago I had posted that while burning pictures to DVD using Photoshop, I somehow managed to wreck some hardware (got an error message) and eventually found out my audio was dying (front audio port). As suggested, I reinstalled my audio drive and that seemed to have worked. Since then, it's started to die again. So my question is, would a new front audio port be recommended, or is something more drastic needed, like a new motherboard? I came across a nice front audio port from Ultra that's not expensive at all, so if that's the solution, I'd have no problems with that. After some thought, I'm still puzzled as to why the audio port would have gotten affected from burning photos to DVD. My back audio works fine, though having a front port was convenient.

Thanks for any replies and recommendations!
