Default Do i Have Enough Wattage

ok first i heard that your video card should be hooked to its own separate power line from the PSU, that seems tough.

i have a raidmax 420W PSU that came with my case, there are two separate power cables that come from it, each having 3 adapters to power things up.

so on the first line i have cd rom, dvd rom, floppy, HD1 andHD2.

and on the second line i have 6800gt, three 80mm case fans and two 12 inch cold cathode lights.

but, the total items i have running off the PSU are 4 case fans, 6800gt, cdrom, dvd rom, 2 hard drives, floppy, keyboard , mouse, zalman adjustable cpu cooler, and two 12" cold cathode lights.

does this seem like too much?

i just hooked the two 12" cold cathode lights today and a little while after the computer restarted itself and gave me an error that said.

the computer restarted itself after and unexpected shutdoun, microsoft windows detected a possible device failure, the driver for the display device was unable to complete a drawing operation, please check with the device manufacturer for a driver update,

then it said that the display driver for the nvidia 6800gt seems to be responsible for the failure..

the computer has restarted twice so far and gave me that message. i have turned the two lights off for now to see if that helps.

Raidmax makes terrible psu's. I would get a better psu like a thermaltake

Jack22.. not true. They make good PSUs. But even 420 watts is not enough. I have a 580 watt PSU Powmax Demon for my machine...

You dontg need 580. I was giving him the bare minimum for what he would need.

Well you can get the extra and it doesn't cost much. Isn't it good to get more just to be safe, rather then sorry?

Gian, your psu is low cost since it isnt high quality. Like if you look at thermaltake, those get expensive

It isn't high quality? Oh really? Do you know what you are talking about? Powmax is a reputable company and the power supply has great reviews. It most definitely is high quality, mr smart ass. Great construction.. has a 120MM and 80MM fan... two leds, lighted cables.. it is maxed out. I don't think you should really say anything at all about this unless you actually have the power supply I got.

It is not on the cheaper side. Go to Newegg.com and you will find tons of people who like the review. What is your problem anyways? Trying to accuse me of putting shitty parts into my computer? Nice try. But I get the best products I can buy. They aren't top of the line, but I make sure I do not skimp of quality. THE PSU IS NOT ON THE CHEAPER SIDE, whoever told you that is lying.

A little my rear end. It is of good construction. I trust the 50+ on Newegg who had review it, over your so called friends that may or may not have the product to begin with. I'm saying it is so fucking good for me, I think I could go with an Athlon 4000+ and be happy with it. And go with SLI. If I had the money... I think your friends are full of it. You need to establish one fact: I never buy shitty products.

NewEgg did its usual great job on delivery. I ordered Saturday evening and had it in hand Tuesday at 1PM. Can't beat it!

Not only that it is 24 AMPS. Something you can't find until you reach $120.

I never said you did. Gian, you always get so defensive. All i stated was that MY FRIENDS said they didnt like it. I was never talking about the whole you idiot(something you might say to me). I only stated what my friends said. Read my posts fully before you get all stupid and start prducing information that isntneeded since that isnt what i am saying.

Dude. It is MY money we are talking about here.. and that becomes personal. I do not let my money go to waste on a bad product. Nearly all reviews say it is a great product. So who should I believe.. the reviews or your friends? You should be the one reading my own posts.

Well that's why it has two fans. I don't like the aspire one.. seems kinda junky.. but hey your decision. And no I'm not angered or annoyed by jack's simple minded responses.
