Disk & Atapi error

hi i have a computer that keeps bringing up disk and atapi errors,

the disk error says " the driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D"

The Atapi error says "A Parity was detected on \device\IDE\IDEport0."

do any one know the cuase of these problems is there any thing i can do to fix this problem?

PS

already tryed swicthing the Tranpher mode to PIO Only, had little to no effect.

It seems like your driver is corrupted, have you tired to reinstall it?

yes I have formatted and reinstalled windows xp professional, the problem still prissiest.
there is no other software installed so can't be anthing to do with software.
