Where's the point in the 8800 and x2800 (?)? They'll just bring out the 8900 and x2900 2 months later.

No. X1900XT will not support DX10

It's always like that. You might as well ask what is the point of video cards because they're just gonna release new cards months later. Or maybe what's the point in processors, because they just release new and better processors in the future. Or why is there even a computer industry, because a few months later that nice rig you had is suddenly nothing.
