Default Different Types of SATA

There's a few types of SATA drives right?

3.0gb/s... and others right?

What are their, names, advatanges, disadvatanges, speeds etc.

My future computer will obviously have a SATA controller, I want to know what to look for and also what type of hard drive suits me.
