Default Different speed of ram

im probly gonna order 1 gig of pc3200 for my new build, i got some ram today from a friend a 512 and a 256. the 256 pc 2700, i think the 512 is pc3200 its a kingston, and the 256 is apacer. can u use a pc2700 stick of ram with the rest being pc3200s?

yes u can but I wouldn't. If u use the 1 gig stick and the 512mb stick then u can run them in pc3200 speeds, but if u put the 256mb in then all of the sticks will run at pc2700. And the difference between 1.5 and 1.75 gigs of ram isn't that much, so I'd prefer to run 1.5 gigs at a faster speed.
