Default Difference in processors

I know there are pentium 4 and pentium 3 and dual core and what not, but what are the like ranks of intel processors.
What I mean is how do all the intel processors go from worse to best?
Would it be like Celeron the pentium then dual core then quad core or what?
I never knew if celeron is better than pentium or vice versa and other things like that.
I was hoping someone could clear that up for me.

GHz is the speed of a processor. earlier processors like the pentuim 3 and older celerons have a MHz rating. dual core is x2 of what is advertised. lets say you are gona buy a 2.0ghz core 2 duo. it is actually 4GHz because it is basically 2 processors built into 1.
pm me for more help if you want it

Why would it be at the end? Intel eats that up.
