Ok apparently intel makes 2 versions of the e6300. the conroe version and the allendale version

whats the difference?

ALLENDALE - Core 2 Duo E6300 SL9TA (L2) 1866 MHz 2048 KiB 1066 MT/s 7x 1.225 - 1.325 V 65 W LGA 775 January 2007 HH80557PH0362M $183

CONROE - Core 2 Duo E6300 SL9SA (B2) 1866 MHz 2048 KiB 1066 MT/s 7x 0.85 - 1.3525 V 65 W LGA 775 July 27, 2006 HH80557PH0362M $183

Allendale is manufactured with 2MB cache. Conroe cores with the 2MB cache really have 4MB cache with 2MB disabled.

Not sure if you want to, because Newegg has E6750's for less than $200.

Have fun with that! I can't get to 3Ghz now because the new bios I updated to is garbage. I gotta switch back to an older bios now.
