Default Desktop failing to boot up properly

My desktop isn't booting correctly. When turned on, it makes its way through various screens before hitting the Welcome screen (right before you're taken to your desktop) but then fails and restarts itself. If I press F10 and click a couple Enter's in a row, it starts normally. How can I get it to start normally like it did before? What could be the problem?

Hey...should I try a restore to previous date? That might be a good idea, huh??

Just checked...tried two checkpoints and they both failed

XP. It's booting up now, but it is taking longer than it was before.

Press F8 while it is booting up and disable the automatic restart on hardware failure option. That could be causing it to seemingly restart over and over again.
