Hi
Probably an easy one to answer :)
My Dell 15R SE has been running a bit slow- especially at startup. I've tried to defragment the hard drive but it gets stuck at 32% which may suggest bad or corrupt segments? I don't want to use a spamware software to resolve this. What can I do?

Thanks

Check event viewer to see if there's any logs that might indicate why it's getting stuck.

run a checkdisk on our C: drive using this command from Command Prompt and then reboot:
chkdsk C: /f /r

Thanks- message I get in command prompt following chkdsk C: /f /r :

You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode.

Thanks again

find Command Prompt in your start menu, right click on it and select "run as administrator" then try the command again.
