Yes i am running a registered computer business.

http://www.compaqsucks.com/

So,Being a Systems Administrator ( I Will be Qualified to do once im finished my courses) earns about $110,000 a year in australia,Your saying thats not good money? LOL! Also Computer Manufacturers dont make parts themseleves! (Some Do though,Example are IBM hardrives) They have mearly Re-Branded cheap parts from cheap manufacturers. Alienware is a sub-company of dell, dell's arent all that good neither.

If you want a good computer with good parts, you have to choose good parts, and put it together your self.

Have you ever rung up compaq (or HP) Customer service? Its the worst i have encountered.
Quote:
arnt most pre-builts done like that thoe ?
Yes and no,With all the prebuilts i have serviced,Compaq and HP Were the worst.Dell Werent fair off.Acers and IBM's are probably the best pre-builts IMO.

Quote:
most pc company's don't have good parts in because they have them made for them selfs, why? well if you can build pc parts you need a company to sign a contract, thats why their so cheap, if you want a good pc with good pc parts you need to see yourself to a proper brand such as alien ware.
I Swear,Your Logic is very confusing but amusing at the same time.

No your wrong again, if your running a pc buiness its shit turn over, i know this because i do about 10 accounts for pc shops, lol, and your doing what system admin? lol ok, sure the cash is shit aswell for 110$k a year, thats just crap and I highly doubt you'll earn that right away, its gonner take you about 7years to get in that postion, and another thing I did'nt say them i said THEY HAVE THEM MADE for themself, they (computer business) sell to THEM (computer sellers), once again I see this shit all day purchases comming from other places on bank statements, just like B&M Bargains, why is this shop so cheap? because the company that sell to them sell them lots and lots in bacthes, so they sign a contract, if they did'nt sign the contract they'd make next to nothing, thats how the pc world works, just like compaq , dell , hp and all the others, they buy parts that are built elsewhere, such as china like an interposer card.

never mind I don't think you know much about business., something I know alot about and i doubt you can even attempt me in this arguement

And yes im not the best atr english, because I never was good at it, the only thing I HAVE EVER BEEN GOOD AT IS FIGURES and thats why I have this job, i got chosen, ive been doing it ages and learning as I get older.

yer forget it, I know Im not wrong, because this sort of info I got of my boss who has been doing accounts for 30years and he has an o level and a degree.

He told me why B&M sell so cheap, and its the same as pc companys, they all have contracts with the people who are making the parts for them.

Calm the flame war, and stick to the facts.

yes, that laptop is worth the money. and no it probably won't let you down any more than another laptop

FYI (for everyone). mostly ALL laptops have proprietory parts/designs with a few standard parts such as processor/ram/network modules/miniPCI slots.

don't confuse laptop and desktop -where desktops have a range of things standard and non standard almost as big or as small as you like,

Yes, a lot of branded desktop PCs have custom parts, this goes for almost ALL manufacturers.

Compaq, dell fijutsu, HP, gateway, Apple etc etc etc.

there is nothing that says that manufactures of prebuilt PCs have to stick to the ATX, ATX mini BTX or any other standard. -so don't be surprised when your dell mainboard won't fit in a case you just bought.

Almost all branded equipment is actually rebranded equipment, I think IBM for instance have rebranded hitachi disks. (though that might be out of date now).
HDD manufacturing is a very specialised area, so there are going to be few providers and lots of rebranding.

so far as there being money in PC building..

first, 110,000 AUS$ straight out of college? i think you've been reading too much promotional material and you believe those adverts that they see on TV too much.

(like the train to gain adverts, aparantly if you take their evening course on how to use word you can get an IT job where the average sallary is £60,000 GBP) -that's a bunch of bull.

your standard sysadmin for windows with only a college / uni certificate will start on £15k - £25k (absolute tops).

with experiance this goes up.

if you can get $110000 USD (£50,000 GBP) straight out of uni then I'll eat my desk. complete with phone and stationary that's on it.

if there is no money in small PC repair, I'll eat the chair i'm sitting on too.

there clearly is money in both businesses as they both survive.

the point is to actually make the money in this field you need to be good.

if your experiance literally is that you can install word, or install windows server on an empty box then there are a thousand other muppets right behind you who can do your job, and if they do it for less you soon won't have a job.

if however you can do something well, and keep going at it, then you'll get the experiance and tallent that does command the money, this will not be straight out of college/uni.

No,$60,000 - $80,000 is for straight out of college,

$110,000 is for seniour sys admins.
