Customize my desktop

Is there a way to customize my desktop using a free program? I do not like windows default looks.

i am using windows vista so please make sure it is compatible

Well, we get our answers anyway by searching (usually Google)...

All I did is some plain and simple Googling.
Now, do a quick scan through the ToS and browse reviews to make sure they're legit, safe and secure sites.
