I have bf2 on high, oblivion on medium, and with the 7600 you might get it to high with no other processes running, or even medium on 1024x768 (I play on 800x600 for oblivion, and 1024,768 on bf2) but, If you had the money, I would go with the 7900, because it could run any game on high

for fps, I think it is around 30, last time I checked, but I will post again next time I play.

I only paid $800 (with shipping) for mine, so you could upgradde the video to a 7900gtx with no problems.

If your going to spend 1K on a build, you will be missing out if you dont use the combination of Taylors build and mine...

I think you need do Lay down a few things for us to help you.

1. Price (what you want to spend)

2. Exactly what you want to use it for

budget is roughly 750-900 usd dollars.

i want to use it for... day to day tasks... seeing as i will be going to college, and i might play some World of Warcraft, Battlefield 2, etc. basically games with high features...

i would like to be able to run them at 1024x768 with mid-high settings, getting at least 25-30 fps would be nice.

i have a monitor, so that's no worry.

and i am using the HP Compaq Presario sr1000v as a starter. so i can build from that machine.

Get 1Gig of DDR2 800
a Core2Duo 6300 or 6400 if you can swing it.
you may be able to squeeze in an 8800 GTS, $360
but If i were you, i would wait, *the smart thing to do* ATI will have a new market of DX10 cards out soon.

If you can wait get a 7600GT to hold ya over $100.

you still need to pick out and optical drive.
and if you use your current case you will need a PSU capable of supporting those components. 450Watt+

Enjoy
