Crap FPS

Lag, I'd assume...why is it that the stress test and the actual in-game performance vary so much then?

lag has nothing to do with fps. fps = frames in second, in other words the amount of frames you see in the monitor every second, which is completely about the hardware, internet connection has no effect.

ping = high ping causes lag. Ping is the time it takes for info to go from your computer to the server and come back. Ping is measured in milliseconds. Has nothing to do with the hardware of the computer. (unless of course the network card would be too slow, which I really doubt)

Low fps and lag is a different thing, the effects are similar (not identical though) but the causes are different.

Don't know how the stress test is made, but single player vs multiplayer fps difference can be because maybe there is more players in the other or something similar. More stuff moving = more things to do for the hardware.

But have you tried any other games?
