cpu's

ok ty for forgiving me. sorry again. so if i replace the processor and vid card in my first rig with the nice ones suggested will it be a good setup?

edit:price comes out to about $1585 so it not totally unreasonable.

You mean the old rig that you were thinking about? Hell you dont even know what you have in that. So dont bother with any previous things you put together. Because the computer he suggested, and the processor I suggested, with the mouse and keyboard.. Well it doesnt get much better then that.

Anyways the setup you shoud go wtih..

This.. I edit some things in it..

EDIT>
Im heading to bed. Night dude.

wait a min, on the first page of this poll ppl said dual core is next gen of gaming and stuff, but didn't AMD openly admit that it would have next to no effect of gaming performance?!

What people have been saying is absolutely correct. Dual IS the next generation in gaming. The reason why AMD made such claims is because current games aren't incorporating dual core technology as few people have made the switch to dual core thus far. Current games are optimized for single core processing. As time goes on and the market has allowed more people to make the switch to dual core, game developers will start incorporating the technology and then the true advantages in dual core processing will be relevant even in gaming.

this works well for me as the games i would like to play are not out yet(coming late this year) and most likely will be optimized for dual cores.

Well, later this year Windows Vista is coming out, and with that comes a lot of new technologies. Such would be the introduction of DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0. There's all kinds of new things coming out this year, this is why I am suggesting to build your PC later on. There is NO point in spending money on a computer right now. Windows Vista will replace Windows XP in roughly 6 months, with that comes DirectX 10, which will make every video card currently out obsolete, plus, video games will use new Engines, and to top it all off, Physics Processing Units are coming out. This will make graphics so unbelievably good you won't even know it!

So, save up your money, don't buy anythign just yet. In six months there will be so many new things to choose from. Plus, nothing will be to horribly over-priced either. So your budget of $1,500 will still get you fairly far. :)

Naw that can't be true is it? DirectX 10 making all currently available vid cards obsolete?
