I have two computers: an Intel P4 2 Ghz (family comp) and an Intel P4 1.6 Ghz (the one I am using now). I use this computer for graphics design and games. However, I plan to switch the two processors to gain more performance. Using CPU-Z, I made sure that my motherboard was compatible with the 2 ghz processor and it is.
Before I do the transfer, do I need to adjust some things to make my computer detect the processor? I read articles that say that there are some settings (multiplier, fsb, etc.) to change in the BIOS but I cannot find such settings even in the BIOS (in maintenance mode). Will both motherboards autodetect and configure the processors?
Current System Specs:
Computer 1
-Intel P4 1.6 Ghz (Willamette) (mPGA-478)
-Intel D845PT Motherboard w/ 512 MB DDR-SDRAM
Computer 2
-Intel P4 2 Ghz (Northwood) (mPGA-478)
-Unknown Dell Motherboard w/ 256 MB RDRAM
