Cpu Temp Question

I recently built a new computer and I have a question about my CPU temperature.

My new CPU is a 650 Intel 3.4, with stock heat sync it runs at 34 idle and 66 !!!!!! load

(load being "need for speed most wanted" with all settings maxed out)

Anyway, this seams really hot to me, I am afraid that I am going to fuse my processor to my board.

I found the temp website for my processor:

http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/res..._dsk_p4/technical_reference/99346.htm#table 1

(the table at the bottom tells the temp ratings)

It says my processor can handle 66.6 "case" and 38 "Fan Inlet"

but i don't know what that means.

I am using the software that came with my motherboard for temp readings, and I also am using speedfan (found at download.com)

Can anyone tell me if my processor is running at safe temperatures, and if not, recommend a better heatsync (my CPU is an LGA775)

Thank you very much!

the idle temp ain't bad. But the under load is quite high.

I'd get a new heatsink & fan for the cpu.

And the hs&fan on the post above seems to be quite good for the price.

Thanks guys

Guess I will have to buy a new heat sync :(

Oh well, anyway, is 55 a better temp at load?

changed around some fans, and that is the new temp I am getting.

Thanks again!

Yea actually that's a lot better. If you get some Artic Silver 5 thermal paste you might not even need a new hs/f.
