Which CPU should I get?

lol yeah man, money is no object to me. This is going to be my college computer, I'm going to be using it for programming, multimedia and 3d designing and such. I'm leaning towards the Q6600.

Not sure, but just incase it helps:

I brought a comptuer with a AMD 64 X2 4600+ yesterday and it works like a charm, and is much faster than a intel near version in my laptop, So I would definately reccomend the AMD X2 one you mentioned.

uhhm *cough you can't compare a laptop processor to an intel one.
Just like you can't compare a pentium 4 to a x2....of course the AMD will win.

Now match a Intel q6600, and amds quad and intel ftw.

I changed from a amd athlon 4200+ x2 am2 socket, to a q6600 oced to 3.0ghz and I had to change my pants when i was done loading all my drivers and Vista and all that honkey dorry crap.

INTEL gets my vote.

well duh you will notice a difference, the AMD 64 x2 4600+ is only a 2 core proc and the Q6600 is a quad core so there will be a big difference buddy but dont rull out AMD, i my self have a Q6600 machine(look at sig) and i still will be building a AMD one, since i love them, and also since i have never owned a AMD machine.

i still like AMD, i will reccomend it even thought the Q6600 is good

but umm, what the difference between these proc's:

and

besides a big price difference, because im confuzed about it

Well, the new E7000s will be out very soon so you could wait for one of them, but right now I'd say the 6400+ X2 is more than fast enough for any game and wouldn't bottleneck any GPU.
