Can you list the cpu's power from least to greatest for intel then amd?
I know Intels.
Celeron, Pentium

For AMD I think its like:
Athlon XP, Sempron, Duron, Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX

I'll list the processor lines in no specific order.

Intel:
-Celeron
-Pentium
-Itanium
-Xeon
-Pentium M

AMD:
-Duron
-Athlon
-Athlon XP (There used to be a server variant of this processor)
-Sempron
-Athlon 64 (the FX line is part of this line)
-Athlon 64 X2
-Opteron
-Turion

You can't really do it. Different CPU's excel at different things.

A Pentium M can beat a Turion 64 at audio-encoding, but it loses by quite a margin in data compression.

The same with Pentium 4 vs. Athlon 64; the 64 wins massively in gaming, but it loses by a fair margin in music and video-encoding.

You need to know what you use your system most for, then check out some benchmarks.
